Khalil Gibran – born on January 6, 1883 at Bsharri, Berrut Vilayet, OIttomon Empire died on April 10, 1931 (Age 48 years) in New York city. In 1903, he published his first literary essays; In 1907 he met Mary Haskell who was to be his benefactor all his life who made is possible for him to study Art in Paris. He was a Lebanese – American writer, poet and visual artist, also considered a philosopher. In 1911 Gibran settled in New York, where his first book in English “The Madman”, was published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1918. He is best known as the author of “The Prophet”, which was first published in the United States in 1923 and has since become one of the best selling books of all time, having been translated into more than 100 languages. He was also the author of Broken Wings. Gibran discussed different themes in his writings and explored diverse literary forms. His “prodigious body Of Work has been Described as an artistic legacy to people of all nation.
